Colin Kaepernick gained national attention by taking a knee during the National Anthem, shedding light on systemic human rights issues faced by black and brown Americans. While football is a beloved American pastime, the disparity in treatment between players and law enforcement contradicts the ideals of a truly free and equal society that civil rights leaders envisioned. Kaepernick's silent protest aimed to amplify the voices of the marginalized, emphasizing the need for collective listening and support. Today, engaged in media, publishing, and his nonprofit, "The Colin Kaepernick Foundation," he continues to empower Black and Brown youth, striving to create positive change in the face of inequality and injustice.

In marginalized urban communities, CompStat poses a conflict of interest by prioritizing police performance rather than protection for communities of color, these policing strategies place control and force at the center.
