At 13, I walked through life searching for home. I built it in other people for years. It took time to discover that home was always inside me—in my belly, in my center, in the place I’d exiled myself from because I didn’t understand my worth is inherent. Once I realized that God blessed me and formed me wonderfully in my mother’s womb, that I was made in His image, my life’s work became a map back to self-love and presence. God became my mirror.
This is the archetypal journey—from exile to return, from seeking external validation to building internal sovereignty. The dances we do with others are sacred: they show us our wounds and call us home to ourselves. This is the map I wish I’d had. This is the map I now create for my daughter, for the kids I teach, for anyone searching outside themselves for the home that was always within.
My M.A.P. (Multi-Aspect Mindfulness Meditation) workbook is for those walking through life, looking for their own home. It redirects them back to the voice within—and perhaps to the voice of God, who knows all and is the ultimate mirror. Whether through mindfulness education, documentary storytelling, or creative expression, I create spaces where others can find their way home—to themselves, to their worth, to the presence that’s always been waiting.
My creative work—documentaries, poetry, visual art—reflects this ongoing journey of metamorphosis. It captures the seasons, the ebbs and flows, the full range of emotions that come with healing and self-discovery. My art and films are rooted in activism, social awareness, and emotional health, giving voice to the human journey of care, love, and resistance against oppressive systems. My published workbooks and journals serve youth in NYC schools. My documentaries have been exhibited at venues including the Museum of the City of New York and the National Liberty Museum.
My work is both personal and universal. I hold a BA in Behavioral Health and an MBA in Business Administration. For over 12 years, I’ve served NYC communities through ExhilaFit®, providing comprehensive wellness programming to educational institutions and vulnerable populations including ACS, Graham Windham, and NYC Department of Education schools.
Today I consider myself a transdisciplinary artist (which means I integrate creative types of art from different disciplines together to innovate and create systems, programming, and events people can benefit from. I leverage multimedia to challenge oppressive narratives and amplify truths rooted in human value and personal growth. Through mediums like paint, film, and mindfulness arts, I document stories of defiance and inspiration.
I integrate art, therapeutic approaches, and writing to teach mental and emotional well-being, exemplified in the ExhilaFit® Multi-Aspect Mindfulness Meditation M.A.P curriculum. My own journey, shaped by adversity and triumph, drives my mission to uplift others. My experience as a counselor deepened my understanding of the connection between adversity and personal growth. Witnessing suffering and substance abuse in my childhood taught me the transformative power of creativity in navigating life’s hurdles.
Ultimately, my artistic journey is rooted in a commitment to change and empowerment. I strive to encourage others to overcome obstacles, and expand their perspectives.
